Who are we in the PCA?
The Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) was formed in the early 70’s as a break off from the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA). Doctrinal issues were the primary reason for the split and though those issues have not been repaired between the two denominations, there are many Godly men and women in both denominations. Both churches share the same heritage of being a confessional church.

What is a confessional church?
A confessional church is one in which has an agreed, set doctrine and form of government. Our agreed doctrine is expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF) including its Larger and Shorter Catechism, and our church government is the PCA’s Book of Church Order (BCO). The church has copies of these documents, and they can also be found here:

Do members have to agree with everything in these documents?
Being a member of a PCA church does not mean that each member must agree with all the points of doctrine in the above documents. However, to be a Ruling Elder, Pastor (RE), a Teaching Elder (TE), or a Deacon, one must hold to the documents above.
